Bout two weeks ago, siding. Nice to see you! I've been emailing, when I can, members who have a listed email address. Also, I've been quietly spreading the word on places like the Train Board and Model Railroad Forum.
How did you find out?
Prolly going to take a while for membership to recover, as when a Google search of TF is put it in, one typically sees a large entry that this site was closed.
Please spread the word!

I went through the entire member list, and anybody with 100 or more posts, with an email contact, I emailed: "The TF is BACK!" I can only assume that particular email link works. The big problem is that there are these big headliners that say The TF is gone. I've posted to a few of those sites, to spread the happy news, but for reasons not clear to me those big headliners are big and permanent.

Little by little the crew is returning! Happy day for me! I posted a very brief thread on another site, which is quite good in many ways, but not as good as this great site. After a few replies the thread was closed as they do not wish to discuss other sites, in any positive, or negative light. I can understand why, still, I wish they would remove that damned sticky that says "Tyco Forums is Closed." Would it be generally permissible to ask their admin if they can remove that sticky, or would that set off an another manure storm?? Same for another large, established model rail site.

This site is more relaxed and friendly than any other model train forum. You will not see posts deleted or members banned for trivial reasons on this great forum. Everyone here is treated as a equal member.

I too found out by accident yesterday. I was Googling something and a link came for a TF location, so I thought "Oh well!" and gave it a go!
I am really pleased to see it is back, as I love this Forum, however after a few hours it slipped away again like Brigadoon....and I got a white screen......
Luckily I was able to view TF again today and I am really glad that it back, as there a wealth of information on here and I was gutted when I thought it was lost. Most importantly there is the very welcoming and helpful membership that are always ready to share experience and officer advice and encouragement.
Today is the first time that I have been able to log in, for many months. I went round in a few circles before I got back in, but got logged in, eventually! I wonder, if there something wrong that is causing all the downtime?
Is there anything I can do, or contribute to keep it running?
Has anyone found out why it all went down?
I had joined the other place, but must have somehow missed the posting that TF was back.
Anyway - Glad to be back!
James

I think the long downtime was simply due to well, this place is pretty much a dinosaur as far as websites go. Look at the bottom, Snitz Forum 2000 and Image Forums 2001. The site's running on 17-18 year old architecture that needs a bit of coaxing and a decent chunk of maintenance to keep going. Other forums I visit tend to use much newer or at least updated architectures- primarily ProBoards (TycoDepot, DieselDetailer, The Rustbucket, Atlas Rescue Forum) or Invision Community (Narrow Gauge Railway Modelling Online). There's nothing wrong with this older architecture, I should mention. I quite like it in many ways, it's simple and fairly dependable. (Until it isn't). It's just older software and needs more care than the modern stuff.

I was at work killing sometime and going thru my favorites and click on this site, and pow, it popped up. Couldn't wait to get home and log in. This was the first forum that I joined and I really like it. Chops I really missed your videos of your layout. Especially the background music you play.

Thanks, man. I have a lot of fun doing them. Right now I am working on a video in honor of Walt. Shot four hours of footage, and it all was wrong, so delete, delete, delete, and time to reshoot! This was not conceivable back in the 70's!

Having just accidentally clicked on the bookmark I thought was long dead, I was shocked when I didn't see a "Firefox can't establish a connection" message! :)
Due to the weather hovering between 90 and 110°F since December I haven't had any trains running, just lots of fans while hoping the capacitors in my computers, monitors and TVs don't all pop at once.

I guess I'm a late bloomer. I just found out last week. I did a Google search and one of the hits was a post on this forum, so I came at it via the home page, and found it back in action. It's good to see the old gang online, again.
