While searching for Tyco slot car/truck items on Ebay tonight for RETRO TYCO's slot car track....I stumbled across this rather expensive listing of a lot of 2 US Army/Navy slot planes. They are awesome! But, are they Tyco's or Aurora???

HAH! The Shark Master peels back another layer of history.
Never seen such things. Yes, I, too have my breath taken
away by the prices of Aurora. These seem almost cheap compared
to many of the vintage Aurora pieces I have seen.

They are neither Tyco nor Aurora.

They were Marchon 'Skyfighters', also sold in the UK/Europe under the Matchbox label.

The track was blue with a lot of single lane loop and even higher 360 degree loop to get them 'flying'.

The planes spent a lot of time on the single track but did come together at times when the idea was to knock the other plane off its chassis and 'out of the sky' - the body was held on by a magnet - amd they had 'afterburner' effects - a light on the chassis that fitted into the tail of the plane.

The hand controllers had machine gun sound built in at the press of a button and there was also an area marked on the track as an 'Aircraft Carrier' landing zone.

I think there were two different sized sets but I can only get at the bigger one at the moment.

These sets were short lived as they were a 'last throw of the dice' before Marchon were bought out by Scalextric to form the basis of the Micro-Scalextric we know of today.

P.S. There were four camouflage patterns, this pair being the more common - if you can use such a term for these rarities!

Ah! I thought there were two sets and did make mention of an 'aircraft carrier landing zone'. I'll have to dig them both out sometime.
