It's a Bachmann GP40 and from the metal showing on its underframe, I would venture to guess it's an early '70s issue. Bachmann originally had a nice heavy large underframe for both the GP40 and F9 that disappeared by the late '70s. CP Rail could be a Canadian-exclusive from Bachmann, but CP Rail did get good exposure in the U.S. too at that time.

This one does look a bit worse for wear...the front pilots are nearly missing and the handrailing coming from the cab forward all appear gone. The fuel tank side sections look a bit rough too.

Hey Tony:

I have a few extra shells, like a CN GP7 that I could fit. It is a nice heavy chassis. I like to remove some detail like the railings and combine these witha track pack and a transformer and a few cars to create kid starter sets. Cheap enough that if the kid destroys them it's not prohibitively painful.
