Major league cool, Frank! . I'd sell my lousy cat for that ambulance! Who in the world made such an Art Deco thing?? I'm going to double dip, seeing how the Tycomania World is drooping these days. Maybe it will annoy enough readers to post something better!
First up is this Ferris Wheel. I've had it since about 1999, and it has been demolished not once, not twice, but three times. The first time I dropped a 2x4 plank on it, , then the cats got to it twice. That is why it is missing a few seats. I've got a whole box of seated figures and I need to sit down and paint and install them. It is motorized, and it runs pretty slow at about 4 volts. Adds a lot to the appeal of Smeltertown, a shabby West Texas city, somewhere East of Nowhere.

I rather enjoy incorporating found objects, so when I stumbled over this newspaper ad for a free poetry contest, back when newspapers were more abundant, I had to make it a billboard. Looking at this mis ensemble, it is evident that the shabby water tower, reigning supreme, really needs a good coating of pigeon droppings ... This layout hopefully goes on display at the El Paso history museum Trolley Fest this Saturday.

Frank, love the ambulance!
Chops, you've really captured the feel of a gritty town with that layout.
My submission is a tiny TV (a Philco Predicta to be exact) that sits in the display window of an HO scale shop. It's cobbled together from bits of styrene. Not the most impressive looking thing up close, but it blends in nicely to the background of a scene.

My AOTW is actually track. Very OLD track. Tenshodo company wooden track. Got this in the lot I picked up Friday. Rail is spiked down on them, but not on every tie yet. There's enough for a full oval. Not sure if I'm going to keep them or not.

Great details. This is really coming along. Again, seeing the over view, you demonstrate excellent forsight keeping it as small as it is; with your close in photography it looks huge, yet as an entire entity it is portable and is just right as a demo for Tyco. Small layouts always fascinate me, as this one really gets it right. It is more challenging, I opine, to do a smaller layout than a large one- getting the balance of what to leave in and what to leave out.
Sorry to babble, I love this stuff.

I've admired your dresser top trolley layout for years. So small, yet it feels so big. Plus, it reminds me ever so much of the Toronto, or maybe it was Hamilton, I knew as a child riding the lovely street cars with Mother. Your creation even looks and feels cold! BTW, is the Predicta on a stand on the sidewalk?
It reminds me how fortunate I was that we got such lousy TV reception, and what little there was were things like the CFL or curling matches. We did stuff, and my life is the richer for it.

Thank you, Chops!! I really appreciate that, and yes, that's exactly my goal -- to remain purely Tyco, and in doing so, "build it small." Honestly, it seems there's no end to Tyco's locomotive and car production, yet amazingly, I have dedicated my interests to only specific cars and locomotives, so as not to fall head-first down the slippery slope. Man, now all I need is that Hunt's Snack Pack chocoloate pudding car....

Thanks Chops! Ottawa hasn't had street cars since the '50s so I unfortunately never had the exposure you did. The TV is a pedestal model and sitting on the sidewalk in the picture. It eventually ended up in the window of a store.

This is what a real one looks like...

I realized after uploading my photography is not on point today.

That's interesting to know about Ottowa. My visits to the capital city were short and fragmentary, but memories of this charming city linger. Wow, they got rid of their street cars in a hurry, n'est pas? What was the rush?

If I understand correctly the cars and track were aging and in need of repair, and it was deemed more cost effective to implement buses. Sad, but on the bright side the city is putting its brand new electric light rail system through testing at this very moment. The plan (as far as I've heard) is to eliminate the majority of buses in the downtown core.
Oh the irony.
There is still one surviving Ottawa Electric Railway streetcar.

I have an old Tenshodo 1960s? catalog showing this exact track. So it's pretty old.
