Well heck, I rarely post anything in here, and here I am starting the week's thread. Gotten a lot of additions to my fleet lately so here's a few highlights.
Several Bowser steam locomotives have arrived, including an E6, an H9, a G5 in its box, and this lovely I1 also in its box. It has been fully cleaned and reassembled and awaits coal for the tender and a detailing kit if I can find one.
One of the best things I've ever found at a flea market, this beauty showed up in an unmarked box in the bottom of an empty crate nowhere near any other train stuff. This is my first Hobbytown product, an A-B pair of E7's in beautiful Pennsy tuscan red. They appear to be completely original and untouched for decades, not even a speck of dust on them. They are drawbarred together and with a motor in each, all 12 axles are powered! Haven't tested it yet but I can't wait to see how much it pulls.
Lastly, here's the switcher I meant to post weeks ago and forgot all about. Yes, this is the original 1930s Walthers cast metal "1000 HP Switcher", that is, an Alco HH1000. I found it at a show and my eyes practically bugged out of my head when I saw it for sale and realized how old it is. This thing is practically a brick of cast lead and easily the heaviest loco for its size that I've ever seen. Unfortunately it does not appear to run, so cleaning and diagnosis will be done soon. Beginning with this and about 30 Walthers, Megow's and early Varney cars, I will be constructing a period-correct prewar HO freight train as time permits. Does anyone know what year Mantua released their loop couplers?

Wow... Several beauties right there. I love the Penn Line/Bowser kits and have a T-1 awaiting some love soon. I'm also a huge fan of the Hobbytown E units and have a set that I polished the shells on and decaled in Burlington livery with a huge polished 8 car set of the old Kasiner 80' streamlined cars including the dome observation car.

This will be a magnificent display when you get it up and running. Check Brian's thread "Coupler Evolution" under Loose Ends.

Wow, that is by far the best example of that particular model that I have seen to date. I have come across this ancient Walthers product before at swap meets but for various reasons never made the purchase. If I ever find a loco as nice as yours I definitely would be interested in adding it to my collection.

Hello Connor,
I have two of those locomotives. Neither one of which I was successful in trying to list on eBay, so I may just keep them and restore them myself a little. Haven't decided. They are in no where as fine of condition as your example, but they are certainly examples of some of the oldest HO equipment out there.
Here are the examples I have:

To keep with Connor's theme... Here is my Walthers cast (Brass/Bronze) metal "1000 HP Switcher", Alco HH1000.
I have also attached an image taken from HOSeeker from the 1946 Walthers catalog. This one depicts the diecast version. The brass version is slightly different, mos notably seen with the mounting screws on the bottom.

AWESOME locomotives this week, everyone!! PRR 4800, I love those Pennsy E8's and extremely vintage Walthers Alco diesel!!! Everyone has pieces that are definitely heralds of the longevity of the model railroading tradition.
EDIT - 03/19/18 @11:21pm = I actually recalled having shared about this locomotive before, but......consider it a "preface" for what soon will be a "new locomotive addition." Stay tuned!
Here's my LOTW offering:
Union Pacific GP40/GP40-2 #866 - produced by Bachmann in the 1970's - that I received over 2 years ago from my Uncle as a Christmas gift, and immediately placed into service!

Haven't posted in a while, here are 2 of my latest and favorite additions! Brass Key PRR B6sb 0-6-0 (that I completely restored) and a Proto 2000 USRA 2-10-2 (partial restoration). Both bought for under $100 each!
If I can't fix it, I can fix it so it can't be fixed.

I have just the same engine. mine is a Penn Line. It is very heavy and pulls a lot. I have superdetailed it as possible. had the problem that it derails in curves, to solve this I had to file the middle gearset (inside).
The engine as I got it. bad painted in grey and stuck. looks different now. Erich

My LOTW is a remodeled Rivarossi Reno 4-4-0 into a UP #119.
It took over a year to find the decals and a week to make it.

There are quite a few brands of LOTW this week. Keep 'em coming.
Here is mine, a Mantua 4-6-2 Southern Crescent Limited Locomotive.
I have the passenger cars and will display them when I can find them.

My loco for this week is special to me - so far, my ONLY brass steam locomotive, acquired some years ago at an estate auction, when a HUGE collection of model trains came up for sale, I had to wait late to bid on the trains, but only 4 of us generally were bidding on most of the stuff, I wound up with a Jeep full of trains. Anyway, it's a Westside Model Company D16 PRR 4-4-0 ( thanks to Justin for the ID info! ), needs some adjustments as it was repowered from original motor, and the new one is a bit longer, so I'm having to remove about 1/16th of an inch on the bottom shell to get it to slide up inside the boiler. Also had to order super-long 2mm screw(s) to mount the shell to the frame. Got the screws off Ebay, but haven't finished the mod yet to get the motor to fit. Hope to have it running soon.

Mint Royal Blue, now serviced, drive axles upgraded to pickup power with nickle silver axle sets from a junked tender drive(zinc pest issues). Runs smooth and quiet on my rolling road, time to start on the layout!
Still NT's, I have Aspergers.

Wow! Rare to see such a full on restoration of a Tyco steamer, like that. Sounds like you've made this into a viable, dependable beast of burden. Nice job!
