I was trying to run an MU-2 powered loco and a set of 4 Tyco dual-lighted streamliners. The engine was going very slowly, partly cuz the old streamliners were using so much power, and partly cuz of the small transformer I was trying to use.
How many volts did Tyco's Transformers from the 60's put out?
Also, does anyone know what the max number of streamliners you could run on one of Tyco's old packs was without the engine slowing down too much?

BTW-the most Tyco streamliners I've had running at once on one train is 10.

Hey Cheez:
I tested one of the old Tyco Train set packs and it yielded 11.8Volts max
Hope that helps.

| You might consider using a Tech-II powerpack... look for one used at a show or something, as they are rather plentiful. Mine has been a real workhorse. Granted, I haven't run 10 lighted passenger cars with it, but then two analog sound locos PLUS an Athearn blue-box is a bit of a load itself...

Thanks GIC and Romcat.
I'll get around to buying a new transformer some day. I was curious to see how much power the original transformers that came with Tyco's four car streamliner sets put out.
