A matching set of PC Uboats waiting assignment in Port Byron. One is a dummy, the other powered, recently remotored as it burned up pulling a consist up a long steep grade. The PC hopper on the right, is, I believe, from Microbusss. Photo obtained at the El Paso Model Train Club. Again, if any TF'rs find themselves badly lost, and in El Paso, shoot me a PM and we'll run your pieces here at the Club. This is a standing invite!. Lunch at Forti's Mexican Restaurant is included in the deal!

I'll go with Frank's general theme... Here's one of my Gilbert FY&P Frontiersman sets made by Tyco for Gilbert in 1959.

Aren't those two sets the same? Technically? I mean the yellow bodied/red roof set was the Centennial of the Civil War set, yes?

They two sets were both made by Tyco using the same molds but that's it. The FY&P stands for Fifty Years of Progress and was used to celebrate AC Gilbert's 50th anniversary. It is a scarce set and is worth considerably more than the WARR set shown by Frank or any other roadname made by Tyco/Mantua in the General series. Before the prices on everything dipped, it was not unheard of for a boxed Gilbert HO Frontiersman set to sell for $1500+. Today a boxed one is $800-900, unboxed upwards of $500.

I always wondered what the FY&P stood for.
