I've only ever seen the Tyco Red Box Penn Central in green. An eBay seller has three auctions for red Penn Centrals. Are these variations or a custom paint job? The pictures are not as crisp as I would like, but it appears that the edges of the paint are not crisp, which could indicate a custom paint job. Thanks in advance.

Oooofta, those are nice, but gonna have to pass. Got my stuff than I can run right now.
I think those might be factory original, no? There are no decal lines for paint smudges at all. Uh, strike that, the lettering looks factory original, on the coach, some young artiste splattered yellow paint on the hand rails.
Oh heck, it wouldn't hurt to put them on my watch list, right??

Looks like someone took a set of green PC cars and painted over the stripe. The lettering is factory, but that's about it. You can also tell they've been messed with by the missing paper inserts behind the windows.

Like how the train was in Roger Rabbit when the Dipmobile got struck Pause the movie when it gets hit & look at all the silhouettes in each car frame by frame

Thanks, all, for the confirmations.
microbusss, have you considered using a graphics editor such as powerpoint to create your own custom inserts? It should be easy to pull your favorite images off the web and into PP.

Well, they didn't sell. $30 for the lot seems a little optimistic. I was half tempted to offer $20, but am refraining the urge, that and to smoke cigarettes.

Update: they didn't sell. I offered the gal $15 for the lot, pointing out they are missing pieces, paint damaged. She declined, saying she was "patient." That may be, but eBay charges relisting fees, among many others, and she has them offered seperately rather than as a group. It's going to whittle down her profit- if she ever does sell them- to nothing.

She dropped the price a dollar, sold the coach. Now she's gotta get rid of two odd pieces.

I've never understood why people insist on breaking up sets when listing on ebay. In this case it seems especially ridiculous. Who is going to pay $9 + shipping for a Tyco car that has been (somewhat poorly) custom painted? At least as a set it would have brought down the cost of shipping and someone could have run the trio together.
...but maybe I'm wrong and her patience will pay off.
