I sent off my Tyco GG1 shell, now I need a pantograph. I could kick myself. Checked on eBay, hard to find one less than $35 and most are from Germany, can't imagine what the postage will be. Just need one- want to make a box cab electrict that used only one pantograph.

Nah, a big fat GG1 type. The prototype looks like a Roundhouse box cab with a pantograph almost as big as the roof.

The cheapest way to get one is to buy a Tyco GG and salvage the pant.

If you plan to use the pantograph in operation with catenary, you might consider getting an AHM or IHC or even Marklin version instead. The Tyco version does not have a bottom stabilizer that makes the pantograph stay straight up when it is contacting the wire. It sort of bends over.
If it's just for show, then the Tyco version is fine.

Yep, just for show. I picked off a Tyco GG1 for $17 off eBay. It looks pretty decent, overall, and I feel guilty about ruining it just for one pantograph.

I wouldn't worry too much, they aren't exactly rare.

Chops, send me a photo and a measurement of what you are looking for. I have a 1-gal bag full of lose pantographs and trolley poles.

I knew there had to be a stash out there somewhere! Just one, measurement wise, just about the size of an AHM or Tyco pantograph. Either closely resembles the prototype picture I did see.
I was joking showing off a picture of my Penn Central box cab, but then somebody on the forum came back with a picture of a PC box cab with catenary on top, the PC logo, the works, probably in the Sunnyside Yard. This will be one of the easier kit bashes ever.
Well, the prototype has one three axle truck. But then, the Tyco G has a rather interesting variation of the appropriate wheel set, as does my HO Lionel ELC.
Conversely, a box cab shell fitted to a three axle AHM switcher would be a closer approximation.

Chops, if you want to go all Tyco, use a couple of streamlined cabooses as the boxcab body and Powertorque 0-6-0 steamer without cylinders/rods as the mechanism.

I have an extra vampire powered truck from the GG1, but this is what I came up with thus far...
