Saw this for $600 at a garage sale Fri

I got a better pic on Saturday

yes this DOES resemble the one Tyco put out & he said it came from Colorado
Possibly from a long closed amusement park

this runs on batteries & is chain driven from what I could see
& is cast aluminum
this did run on rails once

I think you should have "jumped on it", as it were. That's a hard to find railroad piece.

On second thought, it would make an interesting planter. Or, at
50 cents a pound it might fetch $250 for scrap. But I like the
planter idea better.

Microbussss you are in Northwest right?

I would think with my limited knowledge of area you would have room

As to track build Gotta be a club out there SOMEWHERE

Cars try e bay I have found many a thing there not neccesarily bought from Islands to defunct missile bases to cars to a rose petal that claimed to have the face of the Virgin Mary

AND Let me tell all of you something

After my grandparents died all the Grand Children inherited pieces of land in Fla Though I wanted to do something with it because it was jointly owned with my brother we sold it

TWO YEARS BEFORE THE ECONMEY TANKED

After taxes etc a few months later while on e bay found this REAL Railroad Cabooses for sale in PA For a fixed rate of 5,000 dollars you could buy a caboose AND they WOULD DELIVER IT

At the time guess what I COULD HAVE DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SADLY COULD NOT NOT because of money not because of room got a WHOLE corner acre

Because of the state zoning since it would be consider a structure THE DAMM TAXES among restoration etc BUT if things would just have fallen into place

Member that big Lionel sale I was at? If only I COULD have been the SOUL winner of a power ball whatever................................ HELL would have bought the house SO i COULD DISPLAY MY STUFF but

lest I would help those people in Houston or help restore the Flying Yankee

FYI I AM DEEP in debt and sadly will NEVER have a chance at a caboose again

Seen many a thing at a sale BUT NEVER a ride on train saw a race car once vintage coke machine............................
BUT maybe...................................

You might be able to try to talk him down on price, though, in all honesty, if the drive and wheels are in decent condition, $600 is a steal.

The thing with the grand scale/ live steam ride-on train hobby is that everything is very expensive. If you don't have the skills or tools to build your own equipment, you have to buy it from others. Buying and repairing a used car can be just as costly as building a brand new car, once you factor in tools for paint removal, body repairs, possibly new wheels and couplers, and new paint. I've got an old homemade coach that I'm rebuilding, and I've got a battery powered McKeen Car project waiting in the wings after that.

You guys want a planter????????????

Got this about two years ago at a sale selling a Lionel Collection The family kept MOST of the trains but not the layout and accessories
It is a Marx Frontier Ride on train the handles removed There is a big wood block in the loco
The tender came with the sprouts

Any suggestions of what to use as smoke? Thought lavender BUT does not grow the way you'd want it

Obviously a herb would have to be used

Here's my current "grand scale" project. I've been rebuilding this old coach. The old trucks were kludged together, and the paint was failing. The previous owner was going to scrap it. I bought the car, and so far I have bought new trucks, installed a new center beam, and now I'm starting on paint (UP inspired). It's not based on a specific prototype (looks like something Tyco could have come up with), though the windows are remeniscent of the GM Aerotrain. I'm hoping to have this car done in time for Summer of 2018.

Rustoleum Sunburst Yellow was the closest I could find at the local hardware store. It can't really be said that this is the "wrong" color, though, because the Union Pacific never had one of these cars. As far as I know, there is no full-size prototype for this car. It's just something fun to work on that my kids will enjoy riding in as well.

There are a number of live steam/grand scale companies out there. Some are one or two guys who take orders and build stuff. Others are a bit larger with paid staff. Discover Live Steam (website) allows people to buy and sell their new and used equipment (shipping isn't cheap, and in some cases isn't an option).

The trucks underneath my coach were made by Titan Trains. Tom Bee is amother big name in 7.5" and 7.25" trucks. I got a pretty good deal on mine; only $300 for the pair!
