My car(s) of the week are these Fleischmann double-decker Santa Fe Passenger cars. Underneath they say, "Made in Western Germany", so they must be from the cold war era. Make me an offer.

| Paul, that Santa Fe liner is pretty fine. Looks like it's been sittin' in the yard out of service for a spell, but ready to go when called up.

I snapped up those coaches, love that crusty look of these odd West German ducks. Will fit in, with some coupler modification on my fleet of Amtrak transitional era trains. I had to pay extra for the rust.

The first few years of Amtrak proved to be a rainbow of color with locomotives and passenger cars being placed anywhere and everywhere on the system. The big change was not really 1 May 1971 but 7 November, 1971 when equipment was shuffled around and the individual trains received their Amtrak numbers. Most of those numbers are still in use today.

My latest 2 boxcars (just arrived today) are new additions to my "chewing gum" construct.
Bubble Yum boxcar

Bazooka bubble gum car with red roof

Now, I just need to find the Bazooka car with the white roof.

My car this week is a Tyco Walking Brakeman car, I am planning on making it a powered haunted boxcar project. I FINALLY found some CD-ROM drives with regular DC motors rather than stepper motors, and stripped them down for the motors last week. I think I can use one of these 3-7 volt motors to power the boxcar's axle. Will find out, anyway. Not sure if I'll keep the walking part active if I do it for this car. But should be a fun project. At least the car has the openings in the chassis bottom for the rubber band already!
