Decided to take a Me day this past week, and my train shop co-worker Ricky who was on vacation this week, and we hit the road Thursday to visit the Roanoke museum, home of #611 J steam engine. Surprisingly , it was in town, very dirty from being on the road touring apparently. And with no crowds around it, easy to get some great pictures. Was a good day, had some slight overcast on occasion, heat not too bad, but also sunny while we were there. I am posting pictures of some of the engines and stuff that's there. Hope you enjoy the show.

At the head end of the museum yard, #1218, #6, and #2156 show off their stuff.

Here we have a no-steam engine, it's a high-pressure unit for use in flammable areas.

#2156 side view, missing some parts

Here's a rusty N&W engine kept outside the main yard. Not sure of it's fate.

The J showing some road grime.

The J at a good angle.

The J , framed by diesel engines.
Now, for some diesels and electrics.....

Nice blue color.

N&W's bicentennial diesel.

Wabash E8 unit, wow it's nice looking!

A different diesel and roadname.

A couple rows of diesels.
Now for some electrics....

GG1

Virginian E33 engine

Nice PCC type street trolley.
And now, some other stuff....

A Microbusss gimme, gandy dancer rig. :)

A Snocat, interesting winter chariot.

I think a 1/4 scale tourist train.

Burro crane

I imagine many train guys would love to have one of these on the porch or deck. Imagine the weight, though! Whew!

Mine cars, I presume?

I never knew they put side view mirrors on railroad cars.

And for you BIG modelers, how about a 5 1/4 inch brass locomotive?
Well, that's all for this round. Hope you like the pictures.

Pretty cool stuff, thanks. Last time I was at museum was 1982. Was a different scale of operation at a different location at that time.

This locomotive would make a nice kitbash project by combining a Tyco C630 shell with an Athearn Trainmaster chassis.
