Here's a short Lionel HO passenger set I picked up at a train show yesterday. The FA is belt driven, all-wheel drive, and all-wheel pick-up. It needs rebuilding but everything is there and the motor turns. Both cars are in nice shape and dual-lighted.

Nice find. I have two Lionel FA's in Texas Special colours. When you go to rebuild the loco, be very careful of the clips that hold the axles on. At their age, they are quite brittle, and liable to split. Don't ask how I know, but I do have one unit suitable for parts now. Evan

Thanks for the tip, Evan! Any suggestions on what to use for drive bands? I picked up some O-rings to try out, hopefully they fit.

I don't even know what type of belt was used. HO Seeker shows a much later version of the FA with a gear drive. Mine came with very finely sliced GARDEN HOSE!! You know, the kind with the ribs on it. That doesn't work well at all. I just ended up putting one of the shells on an Athearn chassis for the time being.
