Here's a Hobbytown Of Boston kit that I grabbed at the hobby shop for a grand total of $2. Looks complete, it says to be a model of a "Ortner's Style (FEC) Rapid Discharger 100 ton Hopper Car". Thing is, I can't find the bloody thing online at all. The sole mention is in a scanned page of a 1992 "Railmodel Journal", where it has a small advertisement, being sold for $9.95, less trucks and couplers.

Anyone have some more information about this? I'm almost afraid to assemble it now, lest I mess up a potentially rare or expensive kit.

* One of the Hobbytown of Boston Plastic kits I remember is the Alco RS3. It was common to see them in Hobby shops, and also at train shows.

Yeah, I did find one of those online. They're dummy engines, obviously.

I decided to go ahead and start building it, and all has gone well. Little tricky to align the sides but I got it right quick enough. The plan is to model it as one of the many ex-Chessie System/C&O hoppers that CSX runs.
