Hi --
Just to introduce myself I am another old guy who never fully stopped being a kid at heart. I'd put my kid age at about 12 years old I guess haha.
I got my first trains when I was about 8 when my parents got me an O gauge Lionel steamer. Later, I got a Santa Fe (F4?) with the red warbonnet and to this day I like that color scheme. Along the way I loved my Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Micronauts, Starbird, etc. and especially Tyco slot cars which to this day is a big passion of mine. All HO scale slot cars, not just Tyco, but Tyco are by far my favorite due to their excellent running qualities.
About the time I was 15 I got my first HO train and it was a Tyco Super Rail Master with the blue & yellow Virginian Alco. Being 15, this didn't see a lot of use as 15-25 are the years that go by in a blur. You know how it goes with girls & cars, & bars & working and just basically turning into a fully functioning adult humanoid.
About 15 years ago I bought some more HO stock and a couple locos and even a Life Like set knowing I'd one day do something with it. Fast forward thru marriage and cross country moves and here I am today. I'd bet my story is a lot like others that grew up in the '70s & '80s.
So I still have my Tyco Virginian in very nice shape and I just want to get a few of the Tyco pieces that I remember being so "cool" from the old Sears catalog growing up, like the Silver Streak & Golden Eagle. And maybe a Santa Fe warbonnet F4. I already snagged a couple of Spirit of '76 locos and I can vividly recall to this day what I was doing on the bicentennial July 4, 1976.
Thanks, John / 'doba
