The Diggin Hill and Batey Hollow is a coal branch line on my layout. Really it's a hidden staging track and a spur used as an interchange with the Tabor and Waldo. A coal train comes out of the tunnel, picks up empties and drops the loads and then returns to staging.
Naturally, there should be a way to haul odds and ends of LCL freight and the occasional passenger to and from the mine, so the DH&BH has a caboose with a baggage door.
The caboose is an old MDC product. I got it at a swap meet in sorry shape with a poor job of weathering, cleaned it up, painted and lettered it, and weathered it more to my tastes.

Hey Shaggy ! Good morning ! Cool caboose. A very useful railroad car. Today is it a company office. Maybe sometimes a delivery vehicle for packages. Even a watchman's house. A work caboose. A place to take a break, A traveling Aid station, Just a place to warm up on a cold day. Even as you say a passenger car. Every day, every minute the purpose changes. Frank

Fabulous bit of modeling, and lime green, too! The staging yard is really, really clever. I'd like to see it, if you got some photos.

Car is the original E&BT Car Shops kit for an ACF 70 ton covered hopper, minus the latch bars and the little bits hanging off each outlet. I'm 90% sure PRR did not actually have any such cars, and after the H30, none were painted tuscan--all were grey. Still a nice car though, I have 2 of this kit and they're fun to build... as long as the pieces happen to all fit together, which wasn't always the case with these!
