Hello all.

Here's my little project from last night. A while back, I found some flashing blue LED thingys that you put on your shoes for dance parties, etc. I bought a couple with an idea in mind.

Last night, I opened one of them up, removed one of the LEDs, soldered two lengths of wire to the LED, and then soldered those to the circuit board. I mounted the main module (powered by a watch-cell) on the wall inside the roundhouse. I routed the wires over to the turntable lead, and glued the LED in between the rails.

Now, with the touch of a button, the Carmen can give themselves Blue Flag/signal protection while they are working on, under, or around engines and cars.

that's a neat little piece. Made to fit on shoes? Who sold those? I always look for neat little things like that myself. Cool idea and execution.

Andrew, I don't recall seeing photos of this particular layout before. I like the roundhouse and set-up there. Does it function (e.g., the track swivel around?)?

I found the flasher unit in the Arts and Crafts section of my local Walmart.

As for the layout, yes I don't think I've posted about this one before. This is my vintage O-gauge 3-rail layout. It's pretty simple, just a big folded loop with a passing siding, a caboose track, an industry track, and the roundhouse.

I didn't have room for a full turntable, so I opted to build a "pivot table" of sorts. Currently it's little more than two pieces of track screwed to the table on one end. It's not motorized or anything, and t he tracks in the roundhouse aren't hooked up to power, at least not yet.

I suppose I'll have to start a thread on this layout. It's had a couple different setups so far, bUT I like the current one and I think I'll be keeping this arrangement. I don't know if I've posted any photos of the HO layout on the other side of the room either (or the custom styrofoam table I built for it), or the little N scale loop underneath the O-gauge layout. I've had plenty of short-lived temporary layouts in the past several years, but I'm done with college, married and renting our place now, so I have the space and time for a couple semi-permanent layouts.
