This is a Mantua General that I repainted.
I lettered it for The Central Arizona Model Rail Road Club.

Another ace job, Ray. Did you have to hammer out a new drive shaft?

Thanks.
This is one of the early ones that used the flexible hose for a drive shaft. I am not happy with the type of hose I used, it is to flexible and causes vibration. I may have to design something better.

Hi Ray,

Thats a very nice paint job. Oh I wish I had that kind of talent.

Hope to see more of your work.

Well done Ray, nice looking General. I'm curious as to how much time is spent actually doing the work and what the overall time is to complete painting/detailing a piece of work like that.

Thanks Mike and Todd,
I was working on this project off and on for the last month.
A lot of the time was waiting for paint to cure so the tape wouldn't pull the paint off after masking it off for the next color.
Once I got the black, green and red on, I clear coated it with gloss clear, applied the decals and applied another coat of clear gloss.
The decal pinstripes took some time. (I would estimate 6 hrs.) They were all put on one at a time. (the red on the domes are also decals)
I also improved the electrical pick up on the tender by adding wipers to the axles wired directly to the tender frame.
It was a lot of tedious work but I think the results were worth it.
Now I want to tear down a couple of AHM 4-4-0s and repaint them.
