I just noticed that a new magazine has been announced. HO Train Collector Magazine. Their first issue in Nov will cover Railbox cars.

https://www.facebook.com/hotraincollector

They have an introductory article on Tyco:

I'll be interested to see what they cover. Anyone know anything more about the magazine?

Sounds like a neat idea. I hope their online subscription will be cheap. It's neat they featured Tyco. Are you guys ready to send in Tyco pictures when they come ask for some?

I wonder who would advertise in such a magazine...it's not exactly a market for new model railroading manufacturers, is it?

I know that there are people who trade in used equipment, but I don't know if there are any who are big enough to advertise on that scale.

There might be a market for Northwest Short Line since there are those who regear and repower old stuff. Also, Cal Scale detail parts might find a place on old equipment. Of course, all this is guessing. It'll be interesting to see what really happens.

This does seem a bold move. I just checked out the links that Thomas posted. Didn't seem to be much substance to them, though that may just be them getting started. You can see how it might develop with enough enthusiasm . . . the Hemmings Motor News of HO Model Trains. Be interesting to know how much money was in the model train market (maybe HO specifically); can that be Googled?

Aren't they the ones who took over Railroad Model Craftsman publication?

I would recomend buying the first couple of issues. Who knows? Maybe it won't be in print for very long, and we will have to prove to people that a magazine actually did exist for this sector of the hobby for awhile.

The SD24 appears to be one of spiderj76/GIC pics from his collection. He was a member here when I was more active. The former founder of this site, a guy who's name I have forgotten, and is the publisher of a train review magazine, Model Railroad News, that spiderj76 writes for. It could be that it is a spinoff of that magazine and looks to be interesting stuff.

Info on the Facebook page looks promising. I hope the magazine has similar items.
