Finally, it runs.
I talked with a friend about turning a couple of crank pin screws for this loco.
Basically, it would be a huge pain in the a## for him to do this.
OK, so, plan B.
As I'm not going to find any spare parts for said loco,
the next best thing is to modify for existing parts.
Out came the Kadee 2-56 tap and into the unmatched holes.
Which, by the way, were not too far off from 2-56.
Cut and file screws to fit and:

Now I'm tracing intermittent shorts, probably from the lead or trailing trucks.
So, for a loco that was deemed a basket case, new life.

Well, that was faster than expected.
I found the source of the short.
It never occured to me until now.
The cab floor and tender deck touch at some points around the layout.
Quick fix, a bit of magic...... mending tape.
The 3M stuff in the green box.
A piece of that, folded over the edge of the cab floor.

Nice job. It's a bit intimidating messing with crank pins. They just have to be right. Off by a little, and things bind.

Now Evan, you know why I like to find the "basket" cases. They never fail to wow ya and you
usually get a really nice piece. Good work there.
