Five bucks, from The Tramp's collection. I've been running the heck out of it.

I vaguely remember having one of those twenty years ago, on my original layout, but I can't be sure. Nice looking car!

My COTW is actually "Cars" :D
2 Life-like passenger cars. I saw the full-dome in the back of a stall at a flea market (the guy sells trains and other stuff). He let me look, found the coach underneath it, and a Golden Eagle 630 was on the shelf above it. Paid $20 for the lot (I figure $10 for the loco, $5 ea for the coaches). First "Shorty" passenger cars I've had.
Sorry, camera sucks.

My blast from the past is a loud one, a Cox Hooker Headers boxcar. I now have 3-4 of these, need to get them all together for a run around a layout this year. Or next, most likely. Anyway, va-ROOOOOM!

AHM steam sound car. It takes a 9V battery and chuffs when it's moving. It has a couple contacts on one of the trucks to trigger the chuffs. Personally I think it sounds like a steam engine sneezing.

Yeah, I already have a few of those as well. They'll be running together I hope.

Figured I should contribute something to the entertainment. I do enjoy looking at the photos and photo stories frequently, and bein' summer, I can appreciate folks doin' other things and gettin' the heck outside. I haven't been doin' much with trains, except watchin' this site for inspiration and day dreamin' a bit. I did just make a purchase, of either an Ulrich or Selley or something or other "Sierra" combine.

I got this one mostly to get the end platforms which I was missing for that yellow coach in the background. And to use the arch bar trucks from the combine, on the coach.

The "chain" detail on the end is somethin' new for me.

These cars, as short as they are, seem like sort of a rarity in the real world, and I'm wondering what other Roads may have used them, aside from the far west logging and mountain roads?

The combine below is the first Sierra type car I got, and subsequently was looking for a coach to complete a little train.

I don't imagine I'll get after this car until it gets chilly enough outside to drive me in, but this is my 2 cents.

Yeah Ben, you seem to know a bunch about real railroads . . . and I know the V & T has a couple of these. Any others, that come to mind?

I believe that the D&RGW has a few as well. If memory serves me right (right, at my age ), This type of passenger car was designed for use on the narrow gauge railroads in the mountains. Roundhouse made a line of them as the "Overton" type of cars.
My car this week is the Armour Cloverbloom Butter billboard car. Model is Roundhouse and the decal is Champ.
