From the trash treasure find last week. I did fine the roof in the box eventually. :) is Plasticville stuff in HO considered the Lionel look in HO? Usually they're not overly toyish, but have features that just aren't scale or realistic enough. Has anyone done a whole layout / dio with HO plasticville? I'm curious how many people have used these with any regularity.

I had a fair amount of Plasticville as a kid, but I only have one model left (the coal tower) and it's modified. To my eye, now, the detail is noticeably oversized.
For kids, though, I think Plasticville models would go well with a train set, because they're rugged and easy to assemble. They'd be a good part of the transition from a trainset to the model railroad hobby.

Someone here gave me the title of 'Master of Plasticville' and I wear it with pride. Their stuff can be the bases of some great builds. It's not what you start with, it's what you end up with.

Gary, I hadn't seen your postings for a while, but I was just reminiscing about them because of your title. I liked that city scene you've been building. Those shots you just posted were also fun to see.

Scsshaggy - Yeah I've been laying low. New job, some health issues and out of space. Not been working on the railroad much. But I had to post when AMC_Gremlin_GT asked if Plasticville was worth while. I can see where a serious model railroader, the type that enjoys operations and that kind of stuff or that can afford and build a layout of craftsmen kits, might avoid it. One reason I joined this forum is that's not the type of modelers most of you are, and neither am I. Plasticville brings back found memories and my challenge is to make them look up to what I first saw as a child. Plus I like being able to take a piece of junk like below and turn it into something cool.

Wow, Gary B, you really made that auto dealership come alive! That is a HUGE change! For the better. Yellow and green doesn't really do much for aesthetics.

That car dealership is a sow's ear to silk purse transformation. I too like this site, because of just this sort of modeling.

Wonderful offerings this week. I particularly like the cheezy plastic bushes. Great stuff.

In a sense, I can imagine a full-size car dealership with cheezy plastic bushes. Not so much now, but at certain times in history, car dealerships have been a bit garish.

| Fantastic job on the auto dealer ship Gary. I do agree with you on about the members of this forum. They are the kind of dedicated modellers that I enjoy being around. Not the "yank it out of a box and run with it" kind of hobbyist.

Thanks everybody. See that's what I mean, another forum would not have appreciated my pictures as you guys did. I love to see what you're all up to. Walt, if you look down the street of my Plasticville Contemporary house you can see my take on the Kramer House too.

Maybe if I find the Cape Cod Hose I'll have you do it up like Fred Roger's house on that HO set at the begining of the show Do want to know whatever happened to that prop
