I found and purchased the complete set of Model Railroader Magazine in bound volumes from 1975-79. This is exciting for me as this is the era I got into model trains (as a kid) and read these issues religiously-usually to the point they were a dog-eared mess! One of these issues has a letter I wrote that was published in their "Student Fare" column. Can't wait to find it! These volumes are in excellent condition

What I had forgotten was the huge amount of advertisers in the magazine back then. So many companies creating great products back then. I also read a neat article last night from the Jan 1979 issue about a fellow who basically created his own DCC system from scratch using a home built computer and building his own recievers (which required a dummy locomotive to carry the large circuit board). His computer system cost him $4500 and had something like 24k of memory. He really wanted 64k!

Yes and lots of Tyco locomotoves cheap cheap cheap. Did anyone ever order from these mail order companies back then? I remember MR did an article where they shopped at some of these huge mail order stores and had some very mixed results.
