Lately, I've been getting into where a car like this came from. While it may not be the only place, there was a Bachmann "Ralston-Purina" set that included the Cat Chow box car and a "Dog Chow" box car. The set had a Santa Fe engine and caboose and the only "special" cars were the "chow" box cars.

My COTW(?) is a few Penn Line Pennsylvania coaches. So, technically, this is a SOTW of mine, but whatever. This is how they all looked after they were cleaned up from all those years of being in an attic somewhere.

Rich, I bought this one on ebay. It's kind of colorful where the dog chow is just green and plain. I probably will never buy the dog chow piece. However, I have all the cars I really want. I may buy 3 or 4 more train cars before I die, depending on how soon that is...

My COTW is a kitbashed beet rack car, now with beets. I scratchbuilt the rack from styrene to fit a Tyco skid flat. The beets are rye seed that I colored with clay that I collected on a fishing trip to Lake Shasta.

Well, that one beets the competition! Remarkable how you took a common Tyco flat and turned it into a work of model railroad art. Superb job.
Thank you Steven for posting the Penn Line coaches. They are really, really cool.
Walt, I love the Cat Chow, but even more that BN cordwood car in the background is even better. I've only seen them in Southern red.
Is that a lamppost next to the Bekin's van??

Yes, Jeff...I believe that is a lamppost!
The green wood car behind the Cat Chow boxcar is a nice piece. A common car in green and the red. I also have the blue U.S. Steel car of the same. Sold by Tyco with a load of "steel Beams" I believe. I have added the wood load to the blue one...
Merry Christmas to you!

Nice Microben... This is one, of maybe four Tyco cars that I might buy sometime in the future, if I even have room for what I have now.

Is it just me or does the muzzle on the illustrated cat look funny? I think I will just stick with Chessie .

I love car projects like this! Most model railroaders dismiss the Tyco skid flat as a "toy" with no useful potential. A new thread needs to be started in the kitbashing forum focusing on skid flat rebuilding projects like this. As I recall someone built a traction "bus exterminator" model using a skid flat with a howitzer mounted to it.
