I have a Tyco caboose - presumably 70s era, from the trucks - with clear plastic windows. A few of the windows have become disconnected and are inside.
Does anyone know if the housing on these cabooses (cabeese?) are glued to the chassis, or is it possible to pop them off after the ladders are disconnected? It appears that the housing snaps into the base, judging by the small red tabs protruding through the black undercarriage.
Is this an easy fix, or is it more complex than this?

It should be a relatively easy matter of pressing the tabs in (the end with the two smaller tabs), and the shell comes off. However, while not glued from the factory, there is always the possibility a previous owner applied glue to it. You mentioned that it has windows? To my knowledge the Tyco cabooses did not ever come with windows, so it seems someone took the shell off and applied them. All is not lost if indeed someone glued the shell to the chassis. Sometimes I have had success by using a LOT of patience - and a thin x-acto blade - working the blade between the shell and the chassis carefully, a little at a time, breaking the seal of the glue. Sometimes it will pop right off that way.

Thanks! This particular model, while not lighted, was also sold as a lighted caboose, so I suppose it was possible that the housing intended for a lighted caboose was deliberately or inadvertently placed on a standard chassis.
