Hey,

In November '06, Athearn is scheduled to delivery what looks like another nicely upgraded Rail Power original now in the Ready To Roll product line...the GP40X. If you're not familiar, this was EMD's forerunner to the GP50 production units. They delivered in the late '70s to only a handful of railroads (UP, ATSF, SP, and Southern) and some continue to be found today in operation. I've seen on in my area in BNSF dress.

Check out Athearn's site and look under GP40X in the Ready To Roll selections. Currently, I've seen pics of the Santa Fe and St. Lawrence models...

Athearn will also deliver a high-short-hood example correct for the Southern Railway models. The Santa Fe GP40X includes numerous extras including antenna platform; roof beacon; and air conditioner. Nice value for $89.98.

Picked up my new Athearn GP40X Santa Fe last night. Excellent Machine! Lots of details added like air conditioner; antenna with mount; snow plow; and beacon that lights up. Really nice model!

Wow! If they make an undec, I'm in serious trouble ;)

('cuz I'll need to get off my duff and make the loco decals for my freelanced road)...

Hey,

I got my Santa Fe GP40X at Doc's Caboose in Kansas City...

http://docscaboose-online.stores.yahoo.net/gp40x.html

Tony L., Athearn did make an Undec GP40X example. I had one in my hands this afternoon. The beacon lights up too. Great looking model...here's mine partnered with a Spectrum SD45 and Athearn RTR ATSF Caboose...
