I just got these over the weekend, and both run fantastic. I'm keeping the Knight Rider set, but my wife is adamant about not having the rebel flag in any capacity in our house.
Even my daughter asked "Why do I have a rebel flag in the house"? So, I let my daughter throw the box and car it in the trash!! I kept the track for any future TCR set I might get later.

Very cool sets! I hope you went and fished the car out of the garbage after letting your daughter throw it out! The two cars alone seem to be selling on ebay for $50, I'm sure a boxed a set would be worth a pretty penny.

Bit late to this thread.... Interesting stuff.

I have the Knight Rider set and cars from the British Professionals set, (which is a Ford Capri and a van) and the Duke's cars.

Don't know if anyone has noticed that the cars from Knight Rider and The Professionals set are all fitted with diodes, so they can run off an AC supply. That was so two cars can run under independant control on the same lane. The DoH cars are not equiiped like this and you posting the box picture has explained why - They didn't share the same lane.

Faller and Rasant also sold cars fitted with diodes to do the same.

As HO slot cars go, these Ideal brand ones are very noisy. I originally put this down to the pick ups being worn, and consequently collection be intermittant. A chum carefully silver soldered and then ground them all and they are still noisy!

If you are accustomed to the silky smothness of T Jets, Faller AMS or US-1 you will see what I mean.

Anyway, you must try them on AC - There is already a diode in the Knight Rider car and Peterbilt cab unit, so even if you don't have the proper controls from the set, just wire a diode into each throttle. One reversed in relation to the other. Two cars under independant control on one track. Just like Faller and Rasant did.

Awesome!

My advice is if you can, pre set the spped of one and then drive the other. Don't try to drive them both!

James

PS - are those DoH cars really slotless? I have two that are slotted!
