At Chops' request, here's a drag of Virginian operating hoppers:

Thanks Barry. The focus leaves something to be desired, but it was difficult to get the entire train in one shot.

Hey, no problem Chops! ...Well, it was a little bit of a problem - I had to dig ALL 32 OPERATING HOPPERS out of storage, unwrap them all to find all the Virginians, set them up while fighting off the cats, take about a dozen pictures to get a couple that were okay...but what the hey, what's a little effort for a fellow Tycomaniac?

You'll have to have a little patience, Chops; can you say "learning curve?"

Found a nice real old time set rather cheap. Now I think I'm gonna try to make the
original rails that it ran on. Iron Strap rails. Be an interesting change for model
railroading.

GMoney, I learned this trick from Microbusss. Note the derailed driver.

OldTimer: I really, really would love to see strap rail in HO. I tried it myself,
but was unequal to the task. I ended up with a small diorama with code 100
rail, and it was fun until the itty motor burned up after a few hours of use.
Maybe a commercially available code 70 with every other tie punched out.
Anyways, please keep us posted.

I am presently fiddling with a static model of an 1804 Trevithick. What I am
starting to wonder, as I complete the boiler, did Trevithick take a commercially
available boiler and graft it onto a chassis with wheels and add a transmission?
Or was it a total one off affair where he invented everything from scratch.
