How cute! A door stop clerverly disgueised as an F Unit. What is that perforated brass cylinder thing?
Actually, it would look kind of cool, as is, poking around some Georgia backwoods shortline in its last year or two before abandonment.
Bet it would really require some technical finesse to make it work.

Well, it's an old Hobbyline FA1. At least it would have been worth something before the zincrot set in.
But GOOD LORD, I've never seen one that bad still in one piece!

Unknown was a little-known but highly regarded producer of locomotive weights during the latter months of 1953. "No Apparent Problems" was their marketing slogan. Although they indeed had no apparent problems, the company never cleared a profit.

No apparent problem? It's a dang rock, for the love of peace.

Well the loco itself is pretty well wacked, but the Ute Short line was a layout that was built by Earl Cochran and Model Railroader ran an article on it in 1949. I remember it well, because it was a really cool layout with mountains and bridges and looked really cool, but it was only a 5 by 10 layout that looked much bigger. I will guess the loco is a historical collectors item. BTW, I believe it is a Lindsay FA1? Regards, Vic B.

The model is a Lindsay FA2. The motor and drive are by Lindsay. I have a FA2 and FB2 and my A unit is in worse condition. The John English which are the similar die-cast FA's have a HObbyline style drive though made with all die-cast parts and not plastic like the HObbyline drives for the Plastic FA1 made by HObbyline.
