Just wanted to introduce myself, Gary B. I was born into a household with a Lionel set-up. It didn't take too many years before I made the switch to HO. I had a layout with TYCO and Varney trains and Plasticville, Kibre, Faller, Atlas and Hoffman (Any one remember Hoffman?) buildings. During High School it all came down. In the eighties I started over with my small sons. Now they are grown and the layout is pretty much my domain. I'm not so much a train guy as a building guy. I've been haunting your building of the week thread for several years now. I think you'll see me there regularly. I like the way you guys seem to keep the 'toy' aspect alive to this hobby. Everything doesn't have to be prototypical. That's good, because I don't aim to be prototypical either.

Hi Gary, welcome to the forum. I think that there is just as much modeling talent required to rehab and operate our old "toy" trains as it takes to spend $50 and open a box on some new ready-to-run boxcar.
I am not much of a building guy but rather am just content to sit and tinker with old "junk"! Like you, I too enjoy each listing in the "of-the-week" series.
Glad to have another "old" guy here.

Welcome aboard. I like your avatar. I grew up a mile from the C&NW and consider it my home railroad in an odd sort of way.
And remember, when it comes to your modeling, we like pictures!

Hi , Gary, welcome out of the "lurking zone". So did you just join now that lurking seems to be forbidden by the new website owner? Just curious. Anyway, more than a few of us are NOT rivet counters, and enjoy the toy aspect of HO model trains. I have some far-out ideas on some HO scenery and building ideas, but nothing I've put on a layout yet. LIke someone else said, we LOVE pictures, show us your layout when you get a chance to post some pictures. We're all different, and it's that that helps us grow in this hobby, meeting new people and seeing new ideas.

Thanks for all the welcome wishes. Go to the current Building of the week and you'll see my first picture post. Actually I did try to join before and it never let me in. Good to be here now.
