...yes, Route Rock... funny how the colors matched the financial situation... Red and yellow when they were in hot water from the beuracracy hold up, and then... going out by singing the Blues! Even old wooden rollingstock got the "blues" painted on.

Have you seen the "Soo/Milwaukee System" white cabooses?

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.

Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Yes, I did see them recently...I'm guessing they are prototypical...but I don't ever remember seeing pics of them.

yeah, there were at least two of them. Somewhere in my collection of photo's is a picture that I took while visiting the train museum in Superior, WI. Huh... and if I remember correctly, I shot the caboose with a 110 Kodak!

The misnomer about these particular cabooses was the name/slogan...
"The Soo/Milwaukee System"... they never really merged. Soo just swallowed them up. Unfortunately for Soo, they also swallowed up quite a debt the Milwaukee Road had.
So much so, that they had to liquidate a few locomotives... one was the SDL-9, (or was it the SDL-39?)... and when the Soo started the temporary painting, they used black, covering (Milwaukee Road), sometimes called the "Bandit" scheme or "cockroach" paint job.

Also, while some of the original Chicago, Milwaukee, Saint Paul & Pacific (Milwaukee Road) rail lines were abandoned, The Soo also had to do major extensive up-grading the roadbed.

With all the "Heritage" paint jobs going on, you'd think they'd include the whole original "Black & White" logo of the CMSP & P.

And beyond that, you'd think they'd be painting some of the freightcars, too... could you imagine? Those glossy paintjobs... lookin' a lot like the TYCO's!

Okay... my two-watt bulb brain has just flickered... something like "Don't Walk"...

Yes, you see Route Rock. [}:)]

Unfortunately, I see... $32?!? Are they out of their f#%$$^@ minds? All this is, is the same ol' same ol' $10 Walthers kit (which was always able / offered in three versions) slapped together in China. Disgusting. I don't care how nice the paint job is! The Athearn 2970 hopper is all-new from the ground up, with intricate detailing and etched metal pieces, and the same "superb printing" and blows this thing out of the water.... for 30% less suggested retail. [V]

/end rant

I do sing the blues though... "Bankruptcy Blue", the saddest there was...

I agree that $32 retail is a bite...but if it doesn't sell...Walthers will probably have them in the monthly Terminal Hobby Shop catalog for 50%...and then they'll be a better deal...that is of course if that Route ROCK doesn't sell.

I'm a sucker, especial for CRIP stuff, and I ordered one this week.
