Switching my layout from a logging theme to just prior ot the turn of the last century. Looking for a near mint bumblebee 4-8-0, old time passenger cars, freight cars ect. Need to keep the road names to a western area such as DRG, V&T ect. I have logging stuff I can swap with as funds are real tight right now. I have a nice saw mill and a PFM Climax loco. Mike
Still NT's, I have Aspergers.

I know a guy who has a bunch of brass Climaxes and such like, but
no rolling stock. I'll forward his email address to you, he'd probably
do cash.

That turn of the century thing is PDC (pretty darn cool). My experience with
those tender-motor-connected-to-universal drive units by
AHM and Bachmann is that over time they operate worse and worse
as the conductivity in the wheels in axles loosens up. Think about
that... and they stall bad on turnouts. I'd give them a D- for
reliability.

Anybody else want to weigh in on the reliability of AHM and
Bachmann Old Tymers?

I'm knocking together a little 3x3 for something about 1880.
Right now so broke can't afford the plaster to continue the job!

Id love to find the brass PFM V&T ten wheeler, but they are not easy to come by and when one pops up on evilbay, I dont have the cash as its usualy a pvt sale and not a dealer that will take brass on trade. I also have a small brass trolley, along with 9 brass trolley wire poles, the wire itself and the hangers. Basicly all thats needed to build a small trolley layout. I actualy prefer to have brass engines over plastic. Mikie

Cool. I'm at work right now, but when I get home
I will forward this guy's email to you. He definitely
needs a saw mill and some logging rolling stock.

Yeah, getting hold of a brass PFM would be dang nice-
for Bill Gates and the likes.

I got a sweet Olde Tymer, an AHM 2-4-0, new in box,
for $15 a while back, I've posted it a couple of times.
It has the motor mounted in the cab, and from what I've
heard its pretty reliable over time. The other stuff...
get some more opinions, mine is pretty negative.
Bachmann made a bunch of first generation steam and
the like, and I find so much of their stuff to be pretty
on the outside and as junky as the worst Tyco junk
ever made on the inside.
