I found a junk lot of old freight cars for $90 BIN on ebay. There's a few older things in it, including a couple cars I've really been looking for, but most of it I can't use. I figure I'll go for it, if I can find someone who'll take the rest and maybe split a bit of the cost. The guy posted 5 pictures but ZERO description, so I circled the bits I'm interested in. Anyone willing to take the rest?

I get:
2 beat up Athearn tankers, Shell 3-dome and a silver one
A 2-bay hopper and 40' gondola that look like they're falling apart (worth it just to find out what they are :P )

You get:
Base to an autoloader
Roco ATSF caboose shell
Tyco Silver Streak caboose shell

I get:
Globe 40' Rock Island boxcar (looks like shell only)
Baby Ruth reefer (looks like Ideal Models, maybe?)
Cardboard flatcar with weird trucks (prolly rubbish)

You get:
Tyco Bulkhead flatcar (dunno what roadname)
Tyco 50' BN boxcar
Athearn 50' SD boxcar shell, undec
Roco PRR caboose, minus t/c

I get:
Train Miniature 40' reefer, Gerber's, minus t/c
Shell and floor/frame to build Athearn "Modern Billboards" 50' Hamm's boxcar

You get:
Box of Tyco brass track, curves
Spirit of 76 caboose shell
Some ATSF 40' reefer (if it's old and cardboard sided I might want it though)
Roco (maybe bachmann) BN caboose, minus t/c
Tyco GN flatcar and some 50' piggyback flat, minus t/c

I get:
Varney 40' Boxcar, Maine Central, minus t/c
Bottom to an Athearn Heinz pickle car (the roof is there but I already have an extra that needs a bottom)

You get:
Pack of Life-Like scenery bits
2x ATSF caboose (I think this is bachmann, don't remember for sure)
EJ&E 40' boxcar shell (don't want unless athearn or roundhouse, looks like mantua?)
Roof/end piece to Athearn pickle car
Athearn express reefer, can't read roadname, minus hatches and t/c

I get:
Athearn metal 40' steel reefer, IC, minus t/c - I have been looking for this car and the Hamm's boxcar for months!

You get:
Mantua Hershey's 40' reefer, minus 1 truck
Peabody quad hopper shell - almost certain this is Athearn but I already have one
Another 50' piggyback, can't tell what road, minus t/c
Tyco 50' BN boxcar shell (literally worthless)
Tyco Pepsi-Cola 60' double-door boxcar, minus t/c
Base to a Bachmann NYC centerflow covered hopper (don't ask how I can tell from the picture what the piece all the way in back is, but trust me, that's what it is)

Sorry for very long post! I figure if there's any takers, I'll buy it, when the box gets here take my pieces, close it back up and mail it on to the other person once they've sent me a check for their portion. Do tell me if this is a terrible idea.

Make me an offer. Not much in there that's a big deal except the Athearn express reefer.

Chops, what it is is that I'm looking to buy this lot off ebay in order to get the pieces boxed in red, and I need to line up a home for the ones that aren't (I have no need for them) before I do decide to spend the money on it.

Also, OMG I'm an IDIOT, I forgot to post the LINK , here it is:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-LOT-OF-43-HO-SCALE-TRAIN-SET-PARTS-FOR-REPAIR-AND-RESTORE-TYCO-BACHMANN/191002186096?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D28808%26meid%3D4e531191250c4eca914a08b10546201f%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D271479483829&rt=nc

Ummmm, I get that, you want to trade a pristine Tyco Schlitz wood reefer for that blue
Gerber's- as is? I prefer baby food to beer. And you might find a taker for that lot a
bit easier...

Aaagh. No. That's not what I meant. These pictures are from someone's ebay listing. I'm going to purchase it, but I only want the things in the red boxes, so I wanted to find someone who would take all the other things not in the red boxes, so that I wouldn't be stuck with them is all. If noone's interested, I probably won't spend the money on this lot.

Hey Ben, you interested?

I like to think we're all friends on here.

I also like to think that friends can be honest with each other, especially when someone is about to make an important decision.

Therefore I have to say ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKIN' MIND?

Sorry, but seriously...I would think twice about paying 20 bucks for that mess at a garage sale, much less what they're asking. I know it can be hard to find things, but patience pays off in the end.

Plus, you've boxed in the only things worth saving. The rest is scrap. Frankly, the stuff you've boxed in is probably scrap when seen up close. I don't think anyone will give you much for the rest.

I'm a pro at making treasure out of trash, but frankly this is a rip-off. This link would be better in the "funny or expensive auctions" thread.

Sorry if I seem rude. I just don't a want you to get ripped off.

That's because I haven't mentioned one detail. Trust me, you'll understand. No way in hell I'm paying 90, either, I'm gonna make an offer at 65 to start with, especially since I looked at the guy's history and he takes anyone's offers. But it's worth 65. You'll see why. And I gather that I've circled what's worth keeping, the only reason I posted at all to offer the rest is because I hoped I might find a home for the remainder so it doesn't go to waste, and maybe get enough back to cancel out the cost of shipping it away. Naturally, our good friend microben has pm'ed me, and the matter is settled.

Now go let me do some evil scheming in peace.
