For this week, my BOTW is an H0 scale outhouse that came in a wood kit made in the mid 1990's.

Rummaging around old Club photo albums, found this image of a European
(Pola vs. Faller?) engine shed, dated 1972 when our Club was in the basement
of a downtown office building. I seem to recall that back in the day,
there was not so much American easy to build stuff out there, so you
went European or you built it yourself. Is that anyone else's experience?
The MOW car was scratch built by Dan Haggerty. The car, and Dan, are since
lost to history.

I've been in the hobby since Christmas of 1970 and there were American style kits out there, primarily the Plasticville stuff. If you weren't into art deco, though, some of the Pola kits were pretty attractive and many of the larger, more industrial buildings had a European flavor. Smaller houses and stores were available from them with a more American look.

A lot of the European looking buildings could be easily Americanized with a different sort of roof.

My BOTW is a OO/HO scale cardboard Medieval Cathedral. I think it will look good, especially as a background piece - and the architecture will work for a cathedral in the present-day too. There are several pages of sections to cut out, it builds a fairly large structure (24"x18")

Jerry, with the Pope's visit to the US pending, I believe you're getting that cathedral up just in time. Jeff that black and white and the crane is a fine photo. I was modeling for a spell in the early 60's and I remember getting an Airfix crane car kit (plastic) that was pretty cheap, but not bad detail.

*** My building is one missing at least 2 parts. Also I don't know anything about it.
**** The, I don't know what this building is, building. ****
*** Sometimes buildings can look bigger than they are. The large size of this building seems to make it look at first like something in S gauge or even O gauge. Once you look closely the twin front doors, they are not large enough for either of the larger gauges. The convincing detail is the small fire door, like the one seen here in the far right of this building. It is purely HO scale.
** I don't know who made this building. I don't know if it is a model of a historic building. I am missing the very top of the decorative bell tower. Also a triangular piece that supports the gable roof on the part out of sight on the opposite side of the building. It looks like the triangular piece you can see. Those two parts keep this building from being complete.

Bought this yesterday at a thrift store with some other train stuff...

It's a shame Life-Like doesn't make these anymore, as these were a neat idea for one to start out with landscaping. Of course I didn't need the grass mat section to set it up...

Why don't they make these anymore? They're actually pretty cool.

Wiley,
I guess word meanings change, but a moped was a bicycle with a motor on it when I was a kid. We called the things in the picture motor scooters. But alas, that was a really long time ago.

I think the things in the picture are still called motor scooters. Chalk up an "oops" for Life Like.

Very unique and interesting. I used to cruise about on a 50cc Vespa
up and down US 1 in the Santa Cruz mountains, drafting trucks and
hitting 65 MPH. It is a wonder I am still alive. Tyco is better in my
dotage.

Here's a couple of building kits I assembled today...

The TYCO version of Pola's "Aunt Millie's House!" Though Walthers is currently selling this again, I just got this version cause it's cheaper and probably more detailed.

Here it is assembled! It's being used as a farmhouse on my layout.

Bachmann Plasticville Silver Series library building. This was a series of building kits Bachmann sold in the mid-to-late 1990s, claiming they have higher detail than the regular Plasticville line.

The assembled library. I may get around to painting it a bit some day.
