A few years back, I took a train ride from Durango, Co. up to the mining town of Silverton. It was a great ride with beautiful scenery. I would recommend this ride.

across the tracks in Durango is a station shaped McDonald's
I still say they should reconnect the Durango to Chama line

Great pics. Was it warm in the coaches? How were they heated, certainly not
live stoves, I assume...
My little jaunt this summer, down the hill from Durango. Amazing to me how
the Goose was the transportation for so many rural Coloradans.
They almost had to drag me off the thing, didn't want to leave, no way.

Oh, those things.I actually kinda like those Galloping Goose locos. I've always found them very odd which is probably why I like them.

the Gooses were used cause of bad tracks & cheaper to run
Which when one got restored in SW Colorado & ran on the C&TS it got 1mpg uphil & 3mpg downhill
Goose #1 was either scrapped or for parts for Goose #2
in 2000 A replica Goose #1 was made
