Great engines Evan! Where I went to high school, one side of the school faced the approach to Hellgate Bridge in Astoria, NY. I would see them all the time! Loved it!

Beautiful locos you've got there, PGE.Anyway, my LOTW is a Bachmann Rio Grande 2-6-0 that my little brother got as a birthday gift a few years ago I think.

I almost got one of those for $25 working at my local train show earlier this year. I'm still kicking myself over not getting it.

What I paid for that Stephen! Needed repainting due to a poor job. Thing had been ran alot back when. Still a good deal I think. Hell, got a Mantua 2-8-2 once for $15 and needed a proper insulated draw bar!

Here is my entrant this week - you could classify it as a fantasy engine...
It's an AHM A-3 0-4-0 switcher. Obviously Conrail did not have any steam engines, it is an interesting choice by AHM, who also produced a Light Pacific in Conrail.

Possibly in a old MR magazine with a AHM ad

Not bad, Justin. Especially since they can be pretty good runners as far as I can tell.

I have too believe or not. I don't believe I've seen them at train shows but definitely online. Such a bizarre paint scheme for a steam locomotive.

My LOTW is this pair of Rivarossi Krauss Maffei ML4000C'C' locomotives.
The left one is an earlier release, while the right one was released in the early 1980's. The 1980's version has a shinier finish and the number 9001 on the sides and nose.
Interestingly, the older model has the number 4001 in the illuminated numberboard, whereas the newer one has 9001. I believe that 4001 was a number in the D&RG series.

Wow...lots of great looking locos.
Ken - that's a beautiful E-unit. Interesting that it came with 4-wheel trucks.
Redwoods - your post has sent me over the edge. I NEED a Krauss-Maffei NOW Goodbye budget!
PGE33 - and now I'm nearly there on GG-1s too. Those are exceptional looking examples you've posted.

Great looking locos! The GG1 design is a classic. The green and silver trucks on the first one is a nice touch as well.

My lil LOTW is a Roundhouse Boxcab track cleaner, which was detailed nicely by someone in the Shenendoah , VA region. I thought it too nice to leave on the table a few years ago. I like those little boxcabs! Slow but fun to run.

Queensland Rail C-430, I have lost 5 of these on ebay over the last 3 years. When this one came up, there was no way I was going to be out bid. I dont think these are all that rare, its just when they come up they go for a lot of money because of shipping. I had to gulp when the shipping came up to $35!

Another thing I dream of finding. I think it came without a motor, you were supposed to use the drive of your choice from Pittman, Lindsay etc. Also the nose came as flat pieces which had to be expertly bent and attached together, lucky that's already been done on yours. Very nice kit!

Hey All! Nice offerings so far! I had a A&B set of those Crescent locomotives that sold for a whopping $10 for both a couple years ago. They had ugly blue paint, but they were complete and ran! I really thought they were worth more than that!
My LOTW offering for the week is a New Haven (Walthers) FA1 diesel:

My Locomotive of the Week is a Mantua 4-6-2 Chessie System locomotive that I just bought at my local hobby shop. This is a great looking model, it weighs more than any other locomotive I own, and runs extremely well, plus, the price was good, it was only $35.

The Mantua pacifics are nice locomotives. Don't know about their Tyco equivalent, though. Personally, I prefer diesels to steam locomotives, but this one was too nice to pass up.

I'm talking the early Tycos from the 50's and probably 60's along with the Mantuas from the late 70's thru 2001 I believe.

I have a couple of the Mantua/Tyco and Mantua Pacifics. As far as I can tell, there is no difference between them (at least out of the 7 that I have). I haven't used them much, only pulling 6-7 cars with no problems.

OOOOO! I want one! like this or the Tyco version & it doesn't matter if it doesn't run
I should mention that after testing & using the M-Ks Rio Grande sold the locos to SP so the number wasn't changed when SP painted the RG loco
