My LOTW is a Santa Fe F7A I recently completed. It's an Athearn shell (formerly PRR) on a dummy Globe chassis - so now I have a A-B-B-A set for my Super Chief
Painting and decaling these things are not for the faint of heart!

Verynice JNXT.My LOTW was gonna be some Thomas The Tank Bachmann loco but since you brought up the Santa Fe Super Chief, my LOTW for this week is an Athearn Blue Box F-7 in Santa Fe Chief livery. It's actually my second model train I ever got.

Here's my box for the engine.

Nice work Jerry. As much as I love the ATSF I have not nor do I plan to take on scratch painting the warbonnet scheme. I have an A-B-A setup for my chief with the trailing engine being a bachmann. It's an awd model but weighed close to nothing so I packed it with weight and now isn't dragged by my athearn units

Fairbanks Morse Train Master by Athearn. This one came to me custom painted and nicely detailed. I especially like the 128 on the numberboard. 128 was a weekday limited-stop rush hour train leaving San Francisco at 4:55p.

The model needs a 5-chime whistle and the mechanism needs tuning, so this is my project for the week.

Thanks Ray - and that's probably the last warbonnet I do myself!
The lead unit in my ABBA set is a Bachmann - I packed it with extra weight too. The other three are Globe-chassis dummies. Those Globes are some of the best rolling dummies - far better then the later Athearn ones. So the B-mann is pulling 3 dummies and 4 of the older metal chassis Tyco passenger cars, and doing pretty well. I'd like to add one more passenger car to the set, just to get away from the more power than cars look.

My LOTW...

I had one set that I wanted to post, but I just picked up this brass (Ken Kidder?) 2-4-2 this morning in this lot and thought I would share it! The entire lot was purchased for under $28...

Don,

I think that is pretty much what the entire premise of this forum is... We ALL feed off of and encourage each other's shared addition... collecting, repairing & playing with (sometimes) vintage HO scale trains. Whether they be TYCO, Mantua or any other manufacturer.

I myself like to share the ones that get my blood moving... even if it is only temporary until I find that next interesting and or rare piece. Getting them at a bargain basement price is even more exciting. It just proves the deals are still out there for anyone to find!

I have the IHC set and have since added McHendry couplers to them. The problem is they are extremely light and have bad plastic wheels. I will be weighting them down and adding 33' inch wheels.

Sean , Jeff thank you for the nice comments. Jeff you got to admit that Sean's 2-4-2 tanker is quite a special old Victorian locomotive from the 1890. It got the look of a loco standing in front of an old fancy station with a baggage and 2, 60 foot coaches, again all wood with fancy cresatory, or monitor roofs. The women in there dresses down to ground, hats gloves, and shawl's, maybe even with Para cells. And men in suits, top coats, hats, and gloves accompanying them. All so very well dressed for the time. The head conductor cordially greeting them and offering assistance to enter the train. The period was called the Gay Nineties. And that was just for a local train. What a time that must have been.
* I have drifted off again.

Got another Walthers Trainline Dash 8-40BW locomotive!

This time it's in Union Pacific livery. I decided maybe I can have a few non-BNSF locomotives for my layout (Roundpost Junction could also be a Union Pacific interchange or something!)
And yes, I know Union Pacific never made a Dash 8-40BW, but so what? It's the closest thing to an eight-wheeled UP diesel that looks a lot like the modern ones they currently use.

When I got it, it had never been run. Among first testing it, it did squeal a bit, so I oiled and lubed it, and now it runs very well. And I also swapped out those X2Fs for Bachmann E-Z Mate knuckle couplers. Maybe I'll upgrade it to DCC someday, too...

I got yet ANOTHER locomotive now; I had pieced parts together from two locomotives that had problems to make a single interesting unit (both Bachmann.)

It's a Bachmann Santa Fe GP40 in the Warbonnet colors, very much like the classic 1970s-1990s GP40. It's also DCC-equipped, too! (But the headlights don't work.)

How...how....how did you get it for that cheap?! What you have is a very rare Rivarossi Hiawatha loco made in the 1940's and 1950's. Even if it was just a regular, not so rare kit, how did you pay so little for that?

Going by the scarcity of parts, I think the seller felt he should just get rid of it.
This was a guy that used to run a hobby shop.
I can't understand the low price, but I saw it and ...Yoink!!
These type of deals don't jump in front of you very often.
