Since I'm modifying my Tyco flats and piggybacks, I've been thinking of what to run on them. Looking at the white trailers with Seatrain and Santa Fe lettering, I'd love to find some plain white ones that would fit in the Tyco orange holders. Does any company out there make generic piggybacks that you can detail/paint/letter yourself? I did a brief Ebay search today, but didn't find any plain vanilla ones. Some Athearn Jarrett Cooper were the closest I found that had minimal logo to remove, and were white. I'd like to do some AMC car themed trailers. Of course I want the trailers to fit the Tyco piggyback, so they have to be the small trailers. If anyone knows if any generics are available, and where, post me a line, please!

Athearn trailers will not fit the Tyco chock cradles without modification as the bogie placement is different. IIRC they are a hair longer as well.
As for undecs... none that I know of. So get the following:
- Tyco Santa Fe (older is better) or Sea-Land piggybacks - 90% rubbing alcohol OR Arm & Hammer washing soda - Rag or old toothbrush - Warm water - your own arms
In the time it took me to type this, and possibly you to read it, you can remove that crappy Tyco red ink with alcohol (especially if the trailer is from a cheaper production run). Same for the Sea-Land, although the black can be more stubborn. Try a thin paste of A&H powder in warm water to scrub the rest... it may leave faint, harsh-light only hairline scratches, but the graphics WILL come off.
I have stripped and painted over a half dozen Tyco trailers using this method. And accidentally ruined other freight cars as well. Aside from the freakishly stubborn sample, and later high-quality glosscoat production, it's absurdly easy to remove Tyco's red and black graphics (in addition to plain white pup trailers, you can get a fleet of naked yellow woodside reefers in almost no time).

Ok, so Athearn won't work. Plenty of Tyco trailers still out there. :)
Already tried your suggestion on one of my Santa Fe piggys, and it worked well, with 70% alcohol. Didn't realize it was that easy. Think I'll keep the other graphic, though. But I can use these, with a new motto : " Santa Fe, goin' away! " Thanks for the tip, sir!
