My dad showed this to me today. It's from the same brand that made that overpriced Elvis train and a ton of other sets that look like it. The one and only Bradford Exchange. Now their latest incarnation of their generic passenger train set is a Seahawks 2014 Super Bowl train. Here's a link to their webpage in case you care because I can't get a picture of it up for some bizarre reason. http://www.bradfordexchange.com/products/917206_seattle-seahawks-express-train-collection.htmlAnother thing that I would like to mention is how much it reminds me of those Super Bowl train sets Mantua made in the 80's 90's. Take a look at this ad they had back in the 90's and compare it to the one for this H0 train set. /tyco/forum/uploaded/kovacste000/20140824201515_06_1992_Mantua.jpg What is your take on this 2014 Seahawks Super Bowl set that I think is a ripoff. If anything, I'll buy it at a train show in a few years for really cheap.

good luck Most of the Mantua SB stuff can be pricey & the ONLY car I has for this set is the caboose! Plus some of the cars with teams Such as the L.A. Rams which moved to St Louis I think will be high dollar stuffs or teams that have changed their logos such as the Denver Broncos old logos might be high dollar too

I was not talking about the Mantua Super Bowl set. I was talking about the new 2014 Seahawks set. The Mantua one is most likely not a ripoff set unlike the Bradford Exchange Seahawks set. I guess the size of the picture fooled you into thinking that. I don't blame you, Microbusss. I knew this was gonna happen sooner or later.

Most of the football team cars I see at shows are priced at 15 - 20 each. Not sure if they ever get it, but they ask it. I DO have an F7 Super Bowl engine, and I think caboose, I got off Ebay some years ago. Haven't added to the collection any, as the stuff is pricey. But I got the two pieces cheap enough, I figured I could wait for the boxcars on a "found bargain" basis. Since I could care less about the Seahawks, I'm not interested in "their" train.

quote: Apparently Bradford Exchange made a train set for every football team to win the Super Bowl in the last 5-10 years or so which means this is not even close to their first football themed train set. Heck, it seems like they made sets for just about every major brand ever.

Hi Everyone,
When the Mantua set came out, I wanted one, but couldn't find them. I ended up piecing the set together myself, along with the non superbowl winners. Mantua (if you didnt know) ended up making a boxcar for every team. Out of the first series (ill get to that in a minute), apparently the screen for the Buffalo Bills became damaged. They did not repair it until the second release. The first release the boxes were gold, the second release the boxes were light blue. The first release Bills car is rare. Over time I have collected each car from the first release & the second release. The "Super Bowl Express" was done for the first & second release. Interestingly, Mantua also did an AFC and NFC winners set in the first release only. Over the years, I have collected all the sets. (see photos)
Mantua also made an MLB set which only included 6 teams, and an NHL set called "The Original Six". I have the MLB set (see pic). I have been trying for years to get the NHL set, but have been unsuccessful. I have never seen it on evilbay, only a car here and there, and they are usually listed for ludicrous money. I did just pick up an NHL add on set of which I was not aware of. As far as I know, Mantua never made an NBA themed set. The have done some College themed sets, I am aware of one for Penn State & USC.

Yes, they made a car for every NFL team. I saw a Seahawks car right now on ebay - the guy wants $65.00! Obviously the price is high because they won the Super Bowl. I see them all the time for $8-10.

If they were around $8-10 like what you said I would go for it so I can show I have Seahawk spirit at the train shows and whatnot. And honestly, $65 is way too much for something like that anyway.

Eric, great post. Some of the more valuable Super Bowl Cars are the Super Bowl winners issued after the sets were released, San Francisco - XXIX (733-833), Dallas - XXX (733-932), Green Bay - XXXI (733-933), Denver - XXXII (733-934) and Denver - XXXIII (733-935.
There is also a NHL GP-20 (424-600), which was released in conjunction with the NHL add-on set.
I was not aware of the USC set, any details?

Bill, the NHL GP-20 is part of the "Original Six" set. I kick myself the one time I saw it at a show. The guy wanted $250 for it, I thought it was too much. That was almost 9 years ago. Haven't seen one since, but I'm always looking.
As for the USC set - It was the same as the Nittany Lion Flyer, just it is painted in Trojans Red with Yellow writing. I saw it in California a few years ago at the Whistle stop in Pasadena. It was in a display case. I do not remember how much they wanted for it. The past 2 times I have been to Los Angeles, I have not had the chance to run up to see if they still have it
I have been thinking of adding the Super Bowl logos to the team cars since Mantua stoped making them - I have a friend who works at a sign shop who has access to a super detailed printer. Just havent had the time....

Eric, I was not aware of the original six NHL set. The only hockey set I knew about, was the 1997 Stanley Cup Express. It consists of a F7 A-unit, caboose and nine club cars. The cars are Pittsburg, New Jersey, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Detroit, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Colorado. The set was limited to 2500 sets.
The Penn State sets were blown out for around $50.00 each at train meets, after the contract with a Penn State group failed to be executed.

Thanks for the info Bill, I was not aware of the Stanley Cup Express set. That's another fine mess you've gotten me into - Another set to track down!
