Dukes of Hazard colliding with Sheriff Hogg, near the Plasticville Police Station. General disarray of automobiles in this mis-en-scene reflects my general resentment of how the automoble culture decimated rail travel in this country. My apologies to car afficianados everywhere. I'd rather be riding a trolley bus.

I hated the Dukes ironically for another reason: the show's wholesale destruction of so many fine old police cars. Horrible.
I love that old green car in the foreground!

Well, apparently this week, the AOTW is the Dukes of Hazard vehicles so my AOTW is an Ertl General Lee car which I got from my grandparents. My grandparents have a treasure trove of awesome 1970s thru 1990s Hot Wheels stuff so that's how I get all this cool stuff from my grandparents.

The website says 309 cars used, not particularly 309 Chargers . At the time I didn't care because I was never a Chrysler product fan... as a kid I liked the show but had some really fake scenes with the cars... not to mention you can't land a high flying Dodge without major damage to the K member.

This one is hard to find. Only shown in one Tyco catalog, the 64-65.... I've bought 2. Rarely on eBay...

Well Walt I hear you. Had they been destroying Chevys by the dozens I might not have cared all that much, but then again maybe I would have. I recall at the time I would have given my left nut for a decent '78 Dodge Monaco with a Police Package. I even cringe now at the GOOD car chase scenes when desireable (to me) automotive hardware is trashed. Go figure

But still, they deliberately killed 309 classic late 1960s, early 1970s era cars.

Curmudgeon that I am, automobiles are only useful to driving to the train station. I guess if I could have my dream car, I'd go for an AMC Javelin, like on the Tyco Autoloader- which I never realized until GMoney spelled it out for me. Yes, I know, I'm out there on my own on this one. Still, I am as bound to the automobile culture, by necessity, as everyone. Bah, humbug. If God intended man to drive, he would have made us with tires. Maybe I should convert to Amish and get a horse and buggy.

I'm kind of a car guy although I do respect your opinion. Are you actually serious about becoming Amish or getting rid of your car?x

You're kidding, right? A question of "useless knowledge" What state was the Dukes supposed to be in during the show?
And judging from experience, I don't believe the cars on the show were "easily fixed"

Kind of keeping with the theme, a WV State Police car:

here are my DofH cars by Ertl!
in the front are the originals But I likes the newer ones cause the logos are PRINTED on the cars instead of being stickers But I didn't get all the remade ones
Someday I want a 69 Charger in General Lee & drive it to Hazard, Nebraska!

Ask and ye shall receive...these aren't from Street Machine Nationals but were at a small car show in Holiday Shores IL. The gold Charger is actually pretty rare, it is a Charger 500.quote:Great pics Metalsmith... Nice old & new cars there! Any winged Daytona's or Superbirds there?

Wow...it just hit me, the "Street Machine Nationals." I went to one way back in 1979, in Indianapolis. Wondered if they still had them
