My BOTW is a switch tower - not sure of the make, it's a loose piece I picked up and re-did.

Great model Walt! I love the '50s era motels, both real and model...my wife and I stay in them whenever we can. Their condition is a crap shoot, however, but we take the gamble. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose!

Jerry, nice looking switch tower! Does it have interior detail? Because with all those windows it would seriously pay off!

I've seen an ad for those in the 1980's Model Railroader catalogs. Looks pretty cool. Plus, it reminds me of those Victorian houses in San Francisco.

My childhood memory of this type of motel is that they usually had a porch light by the office and it had a yellow light bulb so as not to attract bugs. The light was usually surrounded by fly specks from all the bugs the yellow bulb did not attract.
As the buildings became older and more dated, it became more amusing to see the neon sign proudly proclaiming, "Modern Motel."

I love that motel! Check this out, look familiar? /tyco/forum/uploaded/JNXT 7707/20140802203441_koolwink-motel.jpg

There is a motel in Romney WV that has kept its 'motel' looks over the years. We went there last year and spent a night when we rode the Potomac Eagle, and it was a genuine time capsule. I felt like I was in 1968 again!

Cool! The only thing missing in the motel according to pictures I found on the internet of it are the old 1960's TVs. Oh, and my little brother has one of those Plasticville Motels too.
