isn't it missing a pilot Charles, propeller, wings... to be a Lindberg?

I mean, flying over the ocean in that tub would take a long time...

but, hope floats, eh?

In the 70's Lindberg had a line of small powered ship kits. The one I had was a battleship, and you had to wind the armature and assemble the motor yourself, which was only 2 poles. The large gaps between both commutator plates acted as an off switch, so to start it you had to spin the prop and yell "contact!"

Apropos of the saving the hobby threads, it's a shame kits like those aren't around anymore.

That's a neat boat! I don't think it's HO, but it would still look great in a harbor scene.

Those Lindberg train dies turned up as Mantua at some point; the giveaway is the oversized Northeastern style caboose. I don't know if they got the SW1/SW600 dies with the frieight cars, they certainly never produced it.

There may also be tooling for a U25B that never made it into production but had some test shots done around 1968.

* It seems that when speaking to other train people at shows and meetings people out there say there are a few U25B's in the train collector world.
* I have not heard of anyone having one. If anyone knows, TCA people do, as to if any got out in the train market. I think it is just wishful thinking.

There is an article on the Lindberg U25b in the Model Railroad News June 2014 edition. There is at least one test-shot floating around.

Has anyone ever seen the Lindberg Gulf Tank Car?
