Awesome, Tony. Been waiting to see this. Gotta give huge credit to the KCS executive leadership for a) honoring the past and b) supporting the expense. Compared to the old grey or white, this has got to cost a pretty penny. Worth every one! So now we wait for it in HO...

Chris,

Leave it to Mike Haverty...who brought back Santa Fe's classic warbonnet...to give the KCS back the Southern Belle look. A KCS person was in at Doc's Caboose this week and I inquired about when we'd see these new units. No official date is nailed down, I was told, but when a sample gets up this way from Mexico it'll be parked beneath the new walkover bridge at Union Station along side the Southern Belle F-unit usually displayed at USKC for a photo shoot.

If I find out the date of the shoot, I'll post it here.

If you're in the Kansas City area, one of the new Kansas City Southern diesels painted in the new Southern Belle-Heritage scheme is sitting in one of the engine houses on Front Street at the KCS' Knoche Yard as of this morning...Wed 3/28/2007.

Tony, I was down at Union Station today, and I noticed they have a streetcar on display outside now - it's one of the streamlined jobs from the late 50's, I think. Have you seen it? It's under a shelter, and I'm wondering if it's a permanent part of the exhibit now.

Chris,

Yes the streetcar is now part of the USKC collection. Just in the last week they've got it wired up and its headlight works now. Kinda Cool.

Last night, the new KCS Southern Belle #4679 was sitting outside in the open at Knoche Yard. Too dark by the time I went by for pics though.

The price in an HO model in that paint... uh, I think you'd have to put a down payment just to get your hands a touchy feely experience.
Z

beneath the "...Southern" DE MEXICO?

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
"I love your catenary!"
Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Yes, these locos are for the KCS subsidary Kansas City Southern de Mexico.

Here's the more traditionaly KCS gray paint in the KCS de Mexico lettering...

This was a recent issue by Athearn of its AC4400 in KCS de Mexico

The KCS photo shoot at Union Station-Kansas City has been moved up to Saturday April 21st between 4pm-6pm.

Present will be the KCS F-unit #34 usually stored at Union Station. It's on the point of a set of KCS business cars, including the newly added Dome Car "Kansas City." Sitting over in Knoche Yard today is a KCS de Mexico newly painted Southern Belle Heritage loco and KCS #3997 also newly painted into the Southern Belle Heritage scheme. I'm assuming they'll be at Union Station tomorrow afternoon for the photo shoot.
