Just opened a factory wrapped original unloader I believe. Its gunked up on the gears and after some manual moving of the worm gear, I was able to move the tractor back and forth electrically but the forks wont go up or down at all. Any suggestions on cleaning old grease, applying new grease, and trying to get the forks to work? Any help would be appreciated. It is supposedly new and never used. I took factory wrap off.

I recommend a plastic compatible electronics cleaner for this kind of work. The best product I have found is sold by Radio Shack in spray cans, it great for breaking up and washing out caked on grease, even in hard to reach places. Once you have all the old grease removed be sure to re-lubricate the moving parts with fresh plastic compatible grease. Labell makes some excellent products for this purpose. What ever you do, do not use oil! Oil will just attract dirt and eventually gum up the mechanism even worse than before. Good Luck!
