Swink, Colorado - Apr. 19, 2014 The Otero County Regional Model Railroad Association (RMRA) has announced the winner of the 2014 Stentor B. Railworthy award for micromodeling and invisible detail. This Coveted award is named for a frequent contributor to Model Railroader Magazine who was featured in this article in the April, 1952 issue:

Alvin Summers (he's the nephew of Mrs. Grady who owns the antique store where the old barn was by the river) made the winning modification to this AHM/Rivarossi 70-ton Heisler:
Accordint to Alvin, "The level of detail on the outside of the steam dome was quite acceptable, but the inside left something to be desired. Here's the outside of the dome:
Alvin added a scale model of the throttle, authentically tinted with HO scale oxide red boiler paint. Studs were added where the steam dome cover attaches and were authentically tinted with rust. The steam dome interior is shown here:

Congratulations to Alvin whose excellent modeling has kept the spirit of the great Stentor B. Railworthy alive in the 21st century!

That's what you get for sliding down the slippery slope of superdetailing.
