Her gears were stripped and her motor was toasted, but El Paso Model Rail Club techno wizard "Video Ghost Buster" John has her up and running beautifully. Maker's mark on bottom of metal weight "fuel tank" reads "Mantua-Tyco."

You know, that engine looks a lot like a train in a game I play called Trainz Mac. Here's a picture of it.

I swear I've seen the same Airfix model at a train show one time.

I think I've seen an Airfix British brakevan kit at the train shows I've been to a couple of times. Do they actually roll once they're all assembled?

I stated just days ago that I have no Bachmann trains. Digging thru a box today I found 6 pieces. They were given to me about 7 years ago from a neighbor that I have done crash repair and a radical custom S-10 for. They own storage units that these trains were left in... One is powered, the other is a dummy...

Here's my first DCC locomotive, which I got with my E-Z Command system:

BNSF GP40-2. I like the detail on it, which is somewhat surprising for a base-line locomotive (they seem to now have bodies similar to the early '90s Bachmann Plus locomotives.) Quite different from the older Bachmann GP40s...

Just another way Bachmann has improved compared to how they were 30 years ago!

its not only the improvements that have been achieved, but the high price that goes with it,in some cases like the basic bachmann are fair but others not so ken

Newer bachmanns are not quite as detailed as more expensive engines but are much better than the stuff from the 80's. You will find they run a lot better as well and can actually pull a bit. They have a great lineup of engines that are dcc equipped. Although some folks don't like their decoders, I don't mind them one bit. Do you plan im on converting your fleet to dcc or run both dc and dcc?
If you are not having fun, you are not doing it right.

A little late but worth the wait I think for a couple of new this week additions, a couple of AHM Burlington Northern units from raysouthernpac:

AHM Alco RS-11. After a quick clean/lube and a not-so-quick install of Kadees this locomotive is a nice smooth runner, and teams up nicely with my Athearn GP-50.

AHM Alco GE 1000 SW2 (unpowered). I added some extra weight and replaced the wheels with a set of old Atlas Austria metal ones, just slightly smaller in diameter but rolls much better now.

I plan to get a couple more DCC locomotives and upgrade a couple others, and keep others as DC and usually run one of them at a time (but I'm going to wait until I make an electrically-isolated siding for that.)

Jeff > love the NH paint on the ALCO

Ken > the paint and detail on the C415 ALCO is very impressive

Jerry > The AHM/IHC switcher was called a ALCO 1000HP by AHM, it is more like ALCO's S2
with ALCO Blunt trucks. The S4 was the same, but with AAR type A trucks, like the EMD SW1.

I finally have my LOTW up! I can't believe I forgot about this one.A Bachmann Union Pacific 0-6-0. One of my first H0 scale steam locomotive. It's been a few years since I've run this one.I'll see how well it runs after all being in storage for a couple of years sometime today.
