Here they are in all their glory, the entire ATSF roster of Erie Builts: #90, #90A, #90B. I have always thought of the Alco PA as the most beautiful passenger unit, but these have a unique design (Loewy) and look to them that is timeless. All ready to pull an early 50s Super Chief

Those were made by Life-Like/Walthers, Proto 1000. Pretty smooth runners and they are plenty heavy too - I imagine they can pull quite a bit. I haven't put anything behind them yet.

I can hardly believe that's a Life Like product. Proto 1000 and Proto 2000 are the brands that deserve the name "Life Like" in my opinion.

Kovacste- Yes, there is a MAJOR quality difference between the P1K and P2K stuff and the regular LL stuff. However I think it might be unfair to judge the whole brand based on just their entry-level trainset product. In recent years they've done a great job of increasing the quality of their products.
JNXT-Great looking locos! I had no idea the PA's were a Loewy design!

| Beautiful locos and great photos as well. I don't think Loewy had any input on the design of the Alco Pa but he did considerable work for Fairbanks Morse.

Afraid I wasn't real clear in my first post - as metalsmith clarified, Loewy did design work on the F-M Erie Builts and C-liner, not the Alco PA.

Jerry Love the Erie Built Santa Fe engines. Fairbanks Morse+Loewy+Erie, Penn+General Electric all conspired to build these beautiful engines. Was used by some for freight as well as passenger service. The cost of subcontracting the bodies to GE was the main reason the C-Liner units were introduced. Great looking engines.
