Well, I don't believe these photos are anything that's going to knock your socks off, but this is what I've been up to the past several days. I've had this set of passenger coaches for a spell with the intention of getting after them one at a time to clean 'em up and so forth. This is the first one; the trial and error one maybe. I was also trying to shave some weight, though my crude scale doesn't show any significant change. I did remove all the old solder and used super glue where I really needed to have something stay; window glazing, queen posts, truss rods. Otherwise it's all hardware fasteners, including the size 80 hex heads that I used in place of the "nails" that usually hold the doors in place. The brass has been cleaned and dull coated. The cast parts were painted (rust + black = ?) and dull coated. I was, and am still, not sure what I want for colors; have to look at this one awhile and see how it settles. Probably best to leave these old timers untouched, but I just have to tinker.
