I was going to paint ground level the tan at the base of the stairway, The waves will become hedges painted forest green with brown for the wood parts. I'll do a before and a after. * The lighthouse doesn't light up, I guess a determined person could make it light up. frank

My BOTW is a hardware store. In the days of my youth, I bought it as an AHM Minikits Emporium Department Store. It has been pretty plain, to date. I did not have signs on it. It was mostly in the colors in which it was molded and those have been getting pretty grimy and shabby. in the last couple of days, I repainted it, added a sign and a couple of ads in the window, and repainted the old Plasticville people on the sidewalk. It's still no contest quality model, but it's not so disreputable as it once was.
My earlier modeling efforts often need revisiting. With a little help, they can be made presentable next to the newer models.

Here it is in its natural habitat. The buildings on either side of it are to be revisited at some future time.

| Very nice Don. I like your style. I like some of those Model Power kits and I can very much relate to the business of redoing earlier model work; guess it's about like real life. I have thought, more than once, that sometimes it's just as well do redo a messy model (someone else's or your own) and it sort of demands that you get creative and think outside the box. I like the paint work on your people as well. I need to round up a bunch of little people, but man, I was at the train shop recently and it's just flat out hard to find folks dressed in 1900's style. Although I did see on that shapemakers (3D printing company) site that one person is making little hats for HO people).

There's a sense in which everyone models the transition era because there are so many transition era models available because everyone models the transition era. It's a pity, though, that more is not available for the turn of the last century. It's a compelling time. Think of all the movies like "Pollyanna", "Rascal" or "Iron Will" that tap into the charm of that time. In a sense, Greenfield Village is just a 1:1 scale model of that era.
