I can still see the NYC logo under the Conrail paint job.

A Operation Lifesaver caboose - I had leftover decals from a locomotive project and an old, stripped caboose that needed something to do.

Was it something like this? /tyco/forum/uploaded/scsshaggy/20140309223248_r_cab_red_full.jpg This was built for a CB&Q subsidiary (Hannibal and St. Joe) in 1889 and is the oldest caboose still operating in Illinois. More info here: http://www.thefreeportshow.com/equipment.htm

| Nice looking cars so far. This caboose comes from The Strasburg Railroad located in Lancaster PA. This N scale model was bought at a nearby hobby shop.

That's a cool caboose you got there. I like how it lights up.

This Texas & Rio Grande covered hopper is my car of the week. This was a Jell-o Tyco car. It was donated to the train club that I was a member of back in the 90's. It was assigned to the surplus box and was not to be run. I took it home with the intention of making it a little less bright. This was my first attempt to weather and apply home made decals. It was not a great job, but is was allowed on the layout, I always suspected that the other members were just being kind.

I think this beautifully illustrates a point. Many of the old Tyco cars were not bad models. The most toy-like thing about them was the color. Tone it down or repaint the car and the toy becomes a credible model. It may not be to the standard of a craftsman kit, but in a train from a normal viewing distance, it fits right in.
